Job Description

We are seeking an experienced System Architect with a specialized focus on data integration and federation for Department of Defense (DoD) applications. Our SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) program aims to create cutting-edge software solutions that empower a globally distributed workforce. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding and hands-on experience with the system engineering process, coupled with expertise in architecting systems that seamlessly integrate data from edge devices and cloud environments, orchestrate data flows, and federate information to users across multiple global sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision for the SAFe program.
  • Develop comprehensive designs and architectures for an enterprise cloud system that integrates edge devices with cloud environments, orchestrates data flows, and federates information while adhering to engineering standards.
  • Ensure systems architecture aligns with strategic goals, and create documentation for the system architecture runway.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to understand requirements, present implementation and delivery plans, and gather feedback.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise in customer interactions related to both data architecture and system engineering.
  • Architect solutions that facilitate efficient data access for users at multiple sites worldwide and create implementation roadmaps for these solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and multi-vendor development teams to integrate capabilities into the overall system architecture, considering both technical and operational aspects, and align delivery plans with overall project timelines and milestones.
  • Architect solutions that integrate diverse data feeds (edge sensors, cloud-hosted applications, and custom hardware) for availability in disconnected or low bandwidth environments.
  • Collaborate across the Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure program alignment and exceed performance objectives to provide customer value.

Strong Candidates Will Meet the Following Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a System Architect or similar role with a focus on cloud and cross-platform solutions.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with the system engineering process.
  • Expertise in creating detailed plans for software capability implementation and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with customers and internal teams.
  • Strong understanding of DoD standards and compliance requirements.
  • Active SECRET security clearance (required).

Highly Desired Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience leading multi-vendor integration efforts within the DoD.
  • Experience integrating diverse data feeds (edge sensors, cloud-hosted applications, and custom hardware) for availability in disconnected or low bandwidth environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container architectures.
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or consulting role.
  • Experience with collaborative agile tools such as Confluence, Mattermost, and JIRA.
  • Experience implementing Modular Open System Approaches (MOSA) and leveraging Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools in the system design process.
  • Experience in implementing projects following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required).
